Introduction to Jyotish (Vedic Astrology)

Offered by Ahad Cobb

14 Wednesdays beginning September 21st

Jyotish Foundation Course: A practical introduction to jyotish (science of light), also known as Vedic Astrology. This course presents the philosophy and basic building blocks of the language of jyotish: grahas, rashis, bhavas, nakshatras, dashas, and gochara (the planets, the solar constellations, the houses of the horoscope, the lunar constellations, the planetary periods in which the various karmas present in the natal chart come to ripeness for manifestation, and the transits that trigger events), as well as basic principles of chart interpretation.

This course provides a solid foundation for further study and practice of this timeless spiritual tradition. Although the fundamentals of this knowledge are written in ancient shastra and contemporary books, jyotish itself is an oral tradition that is best learned directly from a teacher over a period of time.

Instructor Bio: Ahad Cobb has studied astrology since 1968 and jyotish since 1986. Since 1998 Ahad has been studying jyotish intensively with Hart DeFouw, who is considered to be one of the best jyotish teachers in the west. Ahad studies and teaches jyotish in Santa Fe as seva and sadhana, as service and practice.
